Do you have any full-body pilots?

No. So far, I (nor any other manufacturer for the RC market) have not found a way to make a figure light enough to fly, strong enough to last, cheap enough to make a profit (scale rc business has very small customer base). We are assessing the feasibility of manufacturing full body designs.  Here are some of the hurdles which have slowed our progress towards that end and have no doubt contributed to the lack of full body pilots in the market:

·         Producing full body pilots requires a quantum leap in effort as opposed to the busts. Full body pilots require multiple castings for multiple parts. This adds cost to the process and means the full body price will be approximately 3x the bust price. With a high selling price, sales volume will be low.

·         The variation in “scale” is huge in the RC world.  Same scale kits of different manufacturers can look ridiculous when placed next to each other.  Making a scale pilot then creates confusion when placed inside each kit.  Also, the cockpit kits produced for RC are seldom scale which leads to many complaints from “scale” builders who can’t seem to fit the pilot in the cockpit or worse, the pilot ends up swimming in the cavernous ARF cockpit.

We hope we can work through these details and produce a quality kit. In the mean time, many people have grafted our busts to the lower half of the Vailley Aviation Full-bodied Figures with much success.

Do you offer dealer discounts?

Our current focus is in expanding and refining our current line of products. Therefore, we do not offer dealer or distributor discounts. Our sole distribution is through the website. Eventually, as our products and business expand, we will turn our attention to distribution. Who is Aces of Iron Productions?

Aces of Iron Productions is owned by me, Michael Johnson. I used to fly (before all my free time was consumed with this business) at the Sepulveda Basin. I have a full-time job as an aerospace engineer at Raytheon in El Segundo, CA. Spike was my first design, I made him to fit my Balsa USA Eindecker .40.  The interrest he generated at the field prompted me to create other designs.  As I am an engineer by trade, my early sculptures were pretty rough. The designs improve as my sculpting ability progresses.
